Youth of Parents Who've Experienced Trauma (YPET)

Nov 2009-May 2010

Starting Wednesday Nov 18 there will be a bi-weekly evening educational and activity based social support group (scheduled to run Nov 2009 to May 2010) for youth ages 12-18, who have a parent who has experienced trauma through their work (eg. soldiers, police, fire fighters, paramedics, ER Staff and all veterans of these fields).

This program, to be held in Oromocto, will offer youth an opportunity to learn how to cope, live with and support a parent or family member living with a mental health trauma injury. Youth participating in this program will also have an opportunity to take part in fun activities and special events designed just for them. The educational component of this program is free, however, there may be a small cost associated with some activities.

This program has been developed in partnership by the Operational Stress Injury Social Support Program, the Gagetown Military Family Resource Centre, and the Veteran Affairs Canada Operational Stress Injury Clinic.

Space is limited. For more information and to register your child, please call Jenny at 357-5932. Parents must register their children in advance, no later than Friday November 13th.
