The GMFRC is a registered not-for profit organization governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. The Board of Directors is comprised of a minimum of 51% military spouses with the remaining positions for CF members and Ex-Officio members. These dedicated volunteers use their skills and knowledge to guide the Centre through informed decision making. The Board of Directors operates with committees, which include; Nominations, Fundraising, Finance and Evaluation. Thank you for your interest in the GMFRC Board of Directors.

How do I become a Board Member?

The GMFRC has established a process for persons interested in becoming potential Board members.

• Complete a "Volunteer Application Form" and " Board Application Form" and submit to the Volunteer Development Coordinator. Potential volunteer Board members undergo the same screening as all other volunteers who are part of the GMFRC program (this includes a criminal records check and references check)
• Meet with the Board nominating committee for a short interview
• Attend a Board orientation training session, and
• Attend a monthly board meeting as an observer
• Board members are to participate in yearly training sessions

Roles and Responsibilities of the GMFRC Board of Directors

The GMFRC is a registered not-for profit organization governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. The Board of Directors is comprised of a minimum of 51% military spouses of CF members with the remaining positions for CF members and Ex-Officio members. These dedicated volunteers use their skills and knowledge to guide the Centre through informed decision making. The Board of Directors works in partnership with CFB Gagetown and the Director of Miltiary Family Services (DMFS). The Board has one staff member, the Executive Director. The Executive Director is responsible for all remaining staff who are hired to meet the organizations goals and mission.

Board responsibilities include:

• Review Organizational Mission Statement
• Review GMFRC Mission Statement
• Act as an Ambassador of the GMFRC
• Develop policies and administrative processes
• Review the Annual Funding Application
• Approve the annual budget
• Be responsive and identify community needs
• Evaluate implemented programs/services
• Evaluate work performance of the Executive Director
• Conduct an Annual General meeting
• Fundraising
• Board recruitment
• Attend monthly meetings, board training sessions and special events
